| The 2% Solution: |
 |
Doesn't sound like too big of a solution, does it? Well, if you're talking about Global Warming then it's a pretty good way to get something done.
Think about it: Cutting carbon emissions 2% a year adds up to an 80% cut in 2050.
So, what does that mean?
Look at it this way: If every American family changed just five regular light bulbs to energy-saving flourescent bulbs, that would be equivalent to removing 8 million cars off the road!
Here's the original article from the Sierra Club website.
Some other nifty facts...
Recycling a one-foot-high stack of newspapers can save enough energy to heat a home for 17 hours.
Recycling a six-pack of aluminum cans can save enough energy to drive a car 5 miles.
Recycling a one-gallon milk jug can save enough energy to run a 100-watt light bulb for 11 hours. (Coffee shops--imagine going through 48 gallons of milk/week! You could save enough energy in one year to run a light bulb for approximately 27,456 hours!)
All it takes is a quick rinse and a toss into the recylcing bin! And, as you can see, it's worth it!
